Top 10 Tips For Choosing A Weight Loss Program
This is a follow-up to “Diets & Weight Loss: The $38 Billion Question For Success.”
I believe it’s important to choose a diet that’s easy and will lead to long-term success. But consult your doctor before starting any weight loss program.
With that in mind, here are my top 10 tips for choosing the diet plan that’ll work for you:
1. You Must Be Able to Live With Your Diet And Have a Life With It.
To succeed, you have to make long-term changes in your eating habits. So whatever you do to lose weight should be similar to how you keep it off.
Make sure you can eat foods you like, socialize at parties, and just generally enjoy life.
2. You Should Have Lots of Food Choices.
If your diet doesn’t work with every food from Day One, it’s probably not going to work long-term.
3. You Should Lose No More Than 2 Pounds a Week.
Anything more is unhealthy.
4. You Shouldn’t Eliminate Any Food Groups.
Stick with a balanced diet with enough vitamins and minerals to keep you strong.
5. You Should Have Minimal or No Hunger.
If you’re losing only 1 or 2 pounds a week, you shouldn’t experience tremendous hunger.
6. You Shouldn’t Have to Exercise with the Diet To Lose Weight.
I’m not saying you shouldn’t exercise. I’m saying if you must exercise to lose weight, then your diet’s not working.
The benefits of exercise should be a bonus. Not a necessary part of the plan.
7. You Should Be Able to Enjoy the Holidays.
You’re going to do it anyway, so your diet plan should build in holiday eating.
8. You Have To Know How To Handle Moments of Weakness.
Perfect diets are for perfect people. There are no perfect people.
So find a diet that shows you how to cheat without ruining your weight loss.
9. You Should Get All the Information You Need When You Start the Diet.
You shouldn’t have to go back week after week to get more information.
From the beginning, you should know what the entire weight loss system is about. How else can you tell if it’s going to work for you?
10. You Should Control the Diet.
The diet shouldn’t control you. You must be able to customize your diet to meet your needs and wants.
That will give you the greatest chance for success.
