More toys from China?

Yes.

First I had to toss Thomas the Train, yesterday I tossed Dora, and now today the NYTimes tells me my new Toys R Us bib might be tainted with lead. What the heck, people! I’m sick of it. Don’t give me a voucher, give me my money back. I’ll take up woodcarving. Maybe my kid will be fine with a poorly-whittled top. The blogs are pretty active on this topic today, and Obama is out there condemning the feds.

Hi Madge,
It’s definitely frustrating for parents right now.
If I remember correctly, at least one boy died from ingesting the magnets that are being recalled. If kids swallow more than one, the magnets attract each other and can perforate the intestines.
This is not a recall any parent can afford to ignore.
The reason I put it on my blog, even though it’s a diet blog, is because I know how busy parents can be. If you miss the day’s news and miss the recall, your kids could be in danger. So we’re trying to get the word out.
I share your frustration. There have been too many dangerous products coming from China. There must be a way to regulate this and prevent our kids from being put in danger.

This is getting ridiculous. Are there any toys that are safe?
