Easy Way To Lose Weight - Keepon Dancing
Want an easy way to lose weight?
I’ve found the perfect weight loss mascot in a cute, little, yellow rubber robot that looks like a wide-eyed snowman.
Keepon is a dance sensation on YouTube.
Dr. Hideki Kozima created Keepon to interact with children. Keepon’s especially good with kids who have autism and other developmental disorders.
This Bot Can Dance… Maybe Even Better Than You
I know he dances better than me.
But he doesn’t have a mouth, so he can’t laugh at me. Maybe that’s why I like him so much.
Anyway, here’s my New Year’s weight loss resolution: to burn more calories in a day than Keepon does.
I want you to join me. Get everyone you know to join, too.
I’ve embedded 2 Keepon dancing videos from YouTube into this post. I was playing the “Don’t You Evah” one in the background while I was typing this up.
Catchy Little Tune
It was hard to keep still, especially when watching Keepon. It was even harder to dance and type at the same time.
But it was an easy way to burn calories and lose some weight. Want to lose more? Then get off your butt and really dance.
I did. That’s why this post didn’t get published until after 2AM.
The Weight Loss… um, Dancing Videos…
In the first video, Keepon simply dances throughout to Spoon’s “I Turn My Camera On.”
This video was created by Marek Michalowski, a doctoral student at Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute (a shameless plug for my hometown of Pittsburgh and one of our great educational institutions).
The second video was produced for WIRED magazine as a response to the first. Dr. Kozima carries Keepon through Tokyo as the bot dances to Spoon’s “Don’t You Evah.”
Watch as the little snowman accumulates a lot of fans.
If Keepon has burned more calories than you today… then get up, get moving, and “Keepon” burning those calories.

The second video (my favorite, by the way) can no longer be embedded on my site, so you can follow this link to see it on YouTube:

An easy way to lose weight? You bet. And fun, too.
