8 Health Benefits of 30 Minutes of Moderate Exercise

You can lose weight without exercising. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t exercise.

You don’t need to be athletic, exercise strenuously, or do anything difficult.

Just walking at a brisk pace for at least 30 minutes can make you look and feel better.

According to the Mayo Clinic Health Letter, here are 8 benefits to exercising 30 minutes a day:

1. Manage Your Weight.

By combining exercise with a healthy diet, you can reduce fat and lose weight.

2. Reduce Your Blood Pressure.

Sometimes, you can lower your pressure by as much as 5 to 10 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg). And as I’ve said in I Love to Cheat, we found that adding certain foods to your diet may reduce your blood pressure even more.

3. Prevent or Manage Type 2 Diabetes.

Exercise helps to lower your blood sugar by causing insulin to work better.

4. Improve Your Cholesterol.

Exercise may reduce your triglycerides as well as raise your good cholesterol (HDL).

5. Prevent Cancer.

Exercise can reduce body fat, improve circulation, speed up digestion, and strengthen your immune system… all of which may help to prevent different types of cancer.

6. Prevent Osteoporosis.

Especially if you do weight-bearing exercise, you may lose less bone mass and may even increase your bone density with exercise.

7. Increase Your Stamina and Energy.

The Mayo doctors believe that inactivity, not aging, often causes a lack of energy. What’s that old physics law: a body at rest tends to stay at rest and a body in motion tends to stay in motion?…

8. Maintain mental well-being.

With just 30 minutes a day of exercise, you may improve your sleep, lower your stress levels, improve mild or moderate anxiety and depression, and boost your moods.

If 30 minutes a day of moderate exercise can provide those 8 benefits, why are you sitting at your computer reading this? Get up and exercise.
