A Dirty Little Secret Of The Dieting Industry

Monday, March 12th, 2007

As anyone who has read this blog knows, I don’t believe in fad diets. I don’t believe in losing weight too fast. I don’t believe in eliminating any food groups from your diet.

Besides all the reasons I’ve already talked about in previous blog posts, I’ve got a new reason for you.

It’s a dirty little secret of the dieting industry that’s rarely talked about. At least, not until after the fact.

You see, excess weight may not be the only thing you lose on your diet. You may also start to lose…

Take A Break From Weight Loss — Think Books

Thursday, March 8th, 2007

As I mentioned a couple of days ago, the start of the “Focus On Weight Loss Success” series is going to be delayed (probably until Monday) because of medical problems in my family.

So I’m going to do a quick and diversionary post today.

Yes, it’s off the weight loss topic. But no one should think about weight loss all the time.

I’m taking a book meme from Hilly’s blog because I love books even more than I love cheating on my diet. Here goes:

Wednesday Weigh-In #4

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

I lost another pound this week. Five to go.

So far, the Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies haven’t hurt my weight loss.

Either that or I’m in for a big, fat surprise next week. I don’t care. They’re too good to give up.

Truthfully, I know they won’t affect my weight loss. I’ve put them in my plan.

Am I a bad influence or what?

Dieting With Fish: Know Your Mercury Levels

Tuesday, March 6th, 2007

I’ve been delayed in publishing my “Focus On Weight Loss Success” series because of serious medical problems in my family. I hope to start getting those posts to you soon.

Until then, I’d like to share with you one of the resources I list in my book, I Love to Cheat, that can help you to find out if the fish or seafood you’re eating contain high levels of mercury.

Fish can become contaminated with mercury when they swim in polluted water. At high levels, mercury can cause heart, autoimmune, and nervous system problems.

So exactly which fish are safe in your diet and how much can you eat?

You should talk to your doctor for the latest information. But I also use an interesting tool called a Mercury Calculator from…

Simply Recipes

Monday, March 5th, 2007

I admit I’m a lousy cook. Mediocre, at best. That’s why I Love to Cheat doesn’t require cooking.

But when I ran across a site called Simply Recipes a few weeks ago, I got excited. Really excited.

Focus On Weight Loss Success

Friday, March 2nd, 2007

No diet is perfect. No dieter is perfect.

In fact, most people who start a diet on Monday are cheating by Tuesday. (I’m talking about diets that don’t allow or encourage cheating.)

But there are dieters who succeed in losing weight and keeping it off.

What sets them apart? What do you need to do in order to reach your weight loss goals?

Wednesday Weigh-In #3

Thursday, March 1st, 2007

Another Wednesday weigh-in on Thursday.

I’m not sure this one has much meaning. I spent the last 2 days either in the ER or shuttling between hospital, home, and one other location. So I had a long period of time where I didn’t eat anything.

As far as I can tell, there was no gain or loss this week. I wasn’t able to get weighed first thing in the morning, though, because we took off for the ER at 1AM.

There’s no need to add comments to this post. Nothing really happened.

In other news, I’ve found a great recipe site for people who like to cook. I hope to get some of those delicious recipes posted on Monday.
